Since I was old enough to walk, I was always in the water or knee deep in the mud. Before there was a worry in the world, there were forts, creeks, sand pits, fishing poles, sling shots, BB guns and my best buddy, older brother, who taught me the simple ropes of the outdoors.
Now it is my time to show my beautiful 5 year old daughter, Bailee, the ropes of life and how to follow her dreams. Since she was born she has been my little princess, from the many hours spent being pushed in the running stroller, playing house and cheering me on when times got tough, she’s been my little rock. I couldn’t imagine life without her. I have two amazing parents who have supported me in every direction I’ve turned. They’ve been there through it all. I also have a remarkable boyfriend Brad and his two fantastic kids, Blake and Paige, who mean a great deal to Bailee and I. Family, hunting, fishing and the outdoors are my favorite things in life.
I was introduced to the hunting world a couple years ago by Brad and fell in love. First hunt ever and first successful hunt to be apart of was our South Dakota Cow Elk hunt. This particular hunt was a start to new beginnings for me. Having a Bull Elk that scored close to 360 come within 5 yards and bugle is probably the biggest adrenaline rush of my life and completely life changing and I wanted more! Brad then took me on my most memorable hunt, our South Dakota Antelope ambush. Beautiful weather, new boots, Brad calming my nerves and my new beautiful 25-06 (my surprise gift and very first gun..from Brad) by my side…it couldn’t get any better than that! We took 5 Antelope bucks that day with 5 bullets and left that night with memories to last a life time. I now know the addiction of this sport they call “hunting”. Soon after, Brad put a camera in my hands and I haven’t been hunting without once since. From Antelope, Turkey, Elk, Paddlefish, Walleye, Pheasants, Black Bear and Whitetails, It’s something about capturing the beauty of nature on camera that makes it all worth it. Now I want to experience all that Mother Nature has to offer, and with the many new opportunities and adventures ahead, I would say I’m on the right track!
Sports have always been a way of life for me, golf and marathons in particular. Throughout high school and into my early College years I spent many hours on the golf course and set my dreams on the PGA of America. I was offered a once in a life time job from Ben Crenshaw, and became one of his teaching professionals at his exclusive Golf Club in Austin Texas. I spent the next 5 years living my dream down South as a Golf Professional and a member of the PGA of America.
The love for the outdoors has always been in my blood.
After my daughter Bailee was born I moved back up North to be closer to family. Now, don’t think just because I was taking a different direction in life, that I left my love for the outdoors behind. Just the opposite. I started running marathons to stay in shape and fell in love with the “runners high”. I have now completed a total of 8 full marathons, including the famous Boston Marathon, and many other smaller races in between. Currently, I’m training for the upcoming 2010 Fargo Marathon which is another Boston qualifier.
As far as my career went, I knew I wanted to stay connected with the outdoors so I took a position with an outdoor sporting store called, “Scheels”. I am the stores Technical Outdoor Manager who handles all the North Face, Mt. Hardware and Under Armour accounts and shops. Once again, the love for the great outdoors is still a big part of my life.
So why the passion of hunting, fishing and the art of getting it on film?
It’s about the beauty that mother nature has to offer. It’s about the life of a passionate girl and her love for her family, the outdoors, nature, life, and sharing it with those around her. Getting it all captured on film and letting you share in the experience of the ups and downs of hunting, fishing and the outdoors, whether it’s on the opening day of whitetail or tagging along as we test our skills on the water. It’s just about being out there, whenever there’s a free minute or afternoon and sharing in the experience with others.
